Interesting. Wore it out and about for some errands this afternoon and, not only do I find I like it for knockabout stuff, I also received far more overt looks, smiles, and favorable comments from women than I normally get with a tartan kilt. BTW those are not kilt hose, they're boot socks: I've worn tactical boots and black polo shirts in a variety of security assignments.

    RATS!

    'Do not need more solids.

Bought 2 last year in kahki, perfectly happy therewith. Cannot beat the (surprisingly excellent) quality for the price, in this opinion. Layout is a tad unconventional (okay, the pleats are farking weird)

Plethora of pockets are totally useful. Cargo pants as a kilt. Tres hip. Wore to a military historians convention last fall (with a Cabela's safari shirt) and a bunch of folks asked if it was "issue."

Coyote and dark blue...? Really appeal, and cheap.

Hey, Dale, good piccie. You caught the TDK's look.

So I am very interested in these 5.11 kilts. But having read through all of the previous threads about them, I am a bit confused about sizing. Hopefully some of you who received them last year can help me out. My normal pant size is 30 or 31.....and I wear a size 33 Utilikilt. How does the TDK compare? Am I right in thinking a 32 in the 5.11 would be good?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Reedplayer, they use pant size, so 32 if you want it a loose, like the Utilikilt, they have no mechanism for adjustment. I'd recommend you go with the 30, my waist measures 43.5, I my size 40 TDK needs a belt to stay up if I put anything in the pockets.

Yep. I wear 5.11 tactical pants with a 38" waist, and the TDK with a 38" waist fits perfectly.

I have three - black, khaki, and OD - from last year. This year will have to be navy blue (so that I can wear it with my department T-shirts) and perhaps another in a different color.

As others have noted, the pleats are rather odd, but the quality is good and they're quite comfortable and practical. For the price they're very hard to beat.

Is anyone else planning on ordering at least one of these before the 30th, who wouldn't mind me piggy-backing an extra 1 or 2 on top of their order? I'd love to get a couple of these, but 5.11's ordering system won't even let me place an order without a US IP address. If you accept paypal, and wouldn't mind me adding 2 extra kilts to your order (I'd send you the money via paypal before your order, plus shipping and $20 or so for your trouble, then you could send them to me after you get them), please let me know.
    Thanks. :-)
