    I need a little help

Last week I purchased (on Ebay) a nice old leopard seal sporran. I knew it was a little worn but that made it even better. So when it arrived in the post a few minuets ago I was shocked to see that one of the three tassels in the front was missing, really it looks like it has been nod off. Listen I got it for a still ($57.00) and it came with some goodies that wasn't listed. So I am happy with that. But how can I get a tassel and the braided rope, ebay? Any of you guys do this kind of stuff?
    Thanks a million
    LOCH SLOY!
    Cheers, Wil

Tom Hays (A_Hay) does sporrans as does Scott (Artificer).

Both chaps make excellent sporrans so I'm sure that an inquiry about a repair wouldn't hurt.

If it is an older sporran, it may be hard, if not impossible, to replicate the missing tassel and cord. The better route may be to re-position the two remaining tassels so they divide the front of the sporran in thirds. Many old horsehair and goat sporrans only used two. I agree with Bren, the only way to know is to consult with a sporran-maker with the the supplies, contacts, and skills.

Or replace all 3 tassels with contrasting color (black?) to make it look like it was always like that.

I agree, Artificer has much more experience in tassles. I don't use them on my sporrans.
    Good Luck,

    Tom

I had a missing tassel on a sporran a few years ago. I replaced all three before giving it to my son. This means I have a couple of old (1950s) seal-fur tassels I can send you if the colour is correct for your sporran. This picture will give you a rough idea of the colour but if you can post a close-up picture of your sporran this should give us a better idea.
