    We actually changed to an hard-hat. Tile beats umbrella

    I've never used an umbrella in Scotland cause they tend to turn inside out. If you get rain it's quite likely that you get wind with it.

    An umbrella is very much a useful addition to the wet weather armoury, but the wind can be disasterous.

    Obviously go with what the Scot says. Maybe it was just that people around me didn't use proper umbrellas.
