Wise decision. Don't forget there are other options such as jackets or vests for your stuff. Here's one of those umpteen pocket Scottevests.

I too like the look of a kilt without the sporran - shows more tartan. First saw it in a booze ad and liked the idea.

That man has no fly boxes and I don't see a fly rod either. As a fly fisher person I can't decide if that picture is sexy or irritating.
As for the "not a sporran" I like the shape of #1 but the three tabs are a no go. The other two would be too difficult to get stuff out of.

Ahh, it ain't a booze. Its a kiltmaker. So he's modeling the kilt...so no sporran...or fishing gear...

I like number two. I'm all right with alternatice sporrans when the occasion calls for it. I (on very rare occasins) wear a vintage army ammo pouch on a web belt in lieu of a sporran. Keep in. Mind that those are very rare occasions, usually in my cheap, knockabout acryllic Blackwatch from Stillwater...never in my nive kilt from USAKilts (which I wear with a standard sporran).
Sidenote: I have seen that advert before. I have always been curious about a kilt in an ad from a company called "O'Neil of Dublin." Very good photo, very nice pallate. Excellent ad, just odd because it's Irish, not Scottish. Anything interesting behind the ad?

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with a sporran? Are you just looking for something different? I like the one you chose the best, btw. The round design will suit the task better and your legs will thank you.

in response to theofficialbren's question - there is absolutely nothing wrong with a sporran. i'm just looking for some alternatives.
in response to grizzly's question - the first two i found on www.lederkraft.com under pouches and bags. i found the third one on www.longbowandarrow.co.uk, again under the pouch section. My final choice i found at the wonderfully named www.thevikingstore.co.uk. type in elven pouch in the search box and you'll find it. comes in 3 other colours as well.

I believe the term you're looking for is "irritatingly sexy". ;)

You could (dare I say it) cut he middle tab off of the first one to make it work if it's a serious issue. Or, as hylander said, you could wear it on your hip instead of front & center if you're not too concerned given that the intention is to wear it casually anyway.
