A big, HUGE PLUS ONE!!! from my end, too.

I am amazed and humbled by the outpouring of generosity and kindness by folks on here. I salute the rabble and double-salute the donors. Karma will come back in a good way to them!

I wish the happy couple all the best. May they share many years of joy and may the generosity extended toward them be a good omen and a portent of things to come for them.

Good on ya, Padre, for showing your love, too.

Yes indeed. I am so happy both for the young couple and so proud of the generous folks here on Xmarks. When I first read the original post I felt somewhat bad that I had nothing to be able to contribute that would meet their needs but so happy now to know that others here have made it possible to fulfill this dream. Just another among many reasons to be proud of the "rabble" here!!!

An update for all of you wonderful folks:

    Kilt #1
was donated by a member. It was his own kilt and sent to Margaret at Burnett & Struth to be rebuilt. Sadly, the groom is too tall, and Margaret told me on the phone that the kilt cannot be converted to his size. Our member (who wishes to remain anonymous) spoke with me on the phone and frankly sounded heartbroken. His generous and personal offer to help was unable to be used, and he wanted to find other ways to help. I am deeply impressed by his wish to assist somebody in need. The best of XMarks, right there!

Kilt #2 is being financed by one member and created by another! The anonymous backer has provided for a kilt & plaid to be built in the proper tartan & measurements (I took the measurements, so I sure hope they're right!) by Rocky & staff, and to outfit the groom. He has also arranged for the bride and the bride's three-year-old daughter to have matching sashes in a lighter and more comfortable material.

I'm told that Rocky has already received the cloth from Scotland, and that the Jacket & vest (Black Barathea Argyle) are being shipped now. He intends to apply his usual speed and alacrity (look that up in your Funk & Wagnall's!) to the project, and since all of the accoutrements - belts, buckles, sghian, sporrans, hose, flashes, etc. are in stock, we should be underway shortly. The sponsor tells me that Rocky intends to waive the "rush" charge and to give us the package discount even though some of the items selected are outside the usual package group, another kind and heartfelt donation from a member.

I am so deeply impressed with all of these XMarkers. There are some magnificently large-hearted people out there and in here, and I'm proud to be among you.

The wedding now hangs only on my bishop's approval to perform the ceremony outside of the church building (normally only a perfunctory matter of paperwork) and will be a stunning event on the family farm. Under our ecclesiology, I can add to the ceremony, but not change or delete from it, so something we are adding comes from the fact that the groom is also in the process of adopting the bride's three-year-old daughter. At their request, in addition to husband-wife vows, there will be father-daughter vows. Of course, once the marriage register is signed, the bride and her daughter become, by marrying into the clan and by adoption, Macleans of Duart like the groom, so at that point in the ceremony they will put on their sashes - the bride over her family heirloom wedding gown.

Of course I'll be kilted under my required robes, something that will become evident as soon as the ceremony ends and the reception begins.

And... there is one other XMarks connection which I hope will come to fruition, and which then will become evident after this is all over

Pictures when available. Are you moved to tears yet? I bloody-well am! Be proud to wear the X! Good people live here, no matter where they live!

    Cheers & blessings to all,

    Bill+
