This addiction is getting to me. I joined this awesome forum about a year and half ago with one kilt, now I'm jonesing for number six . One week past placing the order for another USAkilt casual in Douglas Ancient and a matching mini for my wife. Plus I'm with in 5 lbs of my weight loss goal so I will be saving for my first wool tank.

Step 2. Buy Hose.
Step 3. Buy flashes.
Step 4. Buy sporrans.
Step 5. Buy kilt pins.
Step 6. Buy fly plaids.
Step 7. Buy jackets.
Step 8. Buy sgian dubhs.
Step 9. Buy shoes.
Step 10. Learn to make kilts.
Step 11. Hang out on X-Marks.
Step 12. Repeat as necessary, in any order and have a good time with friends and family.

Cunning, baffling, and powerful addiction it is. There are bursts of insanity...buying kilts three at a time! Selling kilts to buy more kilts (they do hold their value well). Specialty kilt addictions...I've bought FIVE leather kilts...still have four....there is no cure....and if buying kilts doesn't kill you then buying kilt accessories will....so very insane. I've purchased 79 kilts to date...no one needs 79 kilts unless you're doing a Kollection like Ham. Still have 39 of them....but hey, I "need" them. Just picked three to wear to a three day conference next week. If you're gonna sit for 8 hours a day nothing more comfy than kilts to sit in.

Ahhh, "the addiction". Well, when you've given up smoking, and (most) drinking, and a few other behaviours, ordering a new wool kilt every 3- 4 months is great sport.

After ordering a new kilt I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas, even thought there may be one or two (new kilts) that are still "in the pipe line". I've figured that I'm enjoying all the great fun of anticipation (not to mention wearing them) for about $35.00 a week, which is a lot less that I used to spend on tobacco......., and l no longer spend on soft drinks ( daily Diet cokes).

I also end up with a (another) really great kilt. Soon (as I accumulate all of the Macgregor tartans in both casual and traditional cut) I'll start spending that same $$$ on more season tickets to event were I'll be wearing my kilts.

Reading some of the comments above, I realise my addiction has only just begun! I've just ordered my second kilt. I've taken my courage in my hands, and gone out in the streets (and footpaths) of Central England in my kilt a number of times in the last few weeks. I've been surprised (perhaps I shouldn't be!) at the very positive responses I have got. I've had a number of conversations which would not have taken place unkilted, and friends and neighbours have been very impressed. If I didn't feel so conspicuous, I would probably wear it all the time!

You hang out on this site and you start to believe that it is perfectly normal to have multiple kilts and a whole wardrobe of accessories. You also start rethinking purchases you made before joining the site and that leads to more purchases. Then, of course, you have to work at opportunities to wear this wardrobe. A mind-altering slippery slope!

Congratulations, John, as Nike says "Just do it"! When I lived in England (Leicestershire) I used to wear my kilt to many of the trade shows (the free ones!) I attended at the NEC. Always got a good reception and lots of free samples. Also walks along the local canal towpath would usually start a conversation with the passing pleasure boatmen. All of which really reinforced the growing addiction I had at the time, an addiction which time has shown is incurable!
