Ah! That makes much more sense to me now. I thought she was refering to the kilts the guys in the audience were wearing. Thanks for clarifying things for me.

She may have been Jamie, in which case my comments would be misplaced. But since the Madonna/USA kilts are widely known, I thought it was a fair assumption. Perhaps kiltbear can clarify?
I was referring to the crappy ones worn by the audience not by her or her dancers. Her kilts were fine just too long. Far too long. Far far far too long. Mid calf sort of length. Im a half way down the kneecap type of guy.

OK sorry, I misread your post.
I agree with you about the length, esp. of the piper, but as i understand it, it was a case of doing what the customer wanted when USAK made them.
Isn't this in the section of the forum. We are talking USAK's in the rkilts forum
Well I'm sure it won't be the first time an R kilt meets a USA kilt or Bear kilt or Savanah... OR UK or Amerikilt diversity is wonderful but here one can see how the thread evolved without getting too lost in a forum...anyway it's good to see that there are many styles of kilts available to the many and diverse consumer.
Cheers

What a diplomat!
I bet you spoil all arguments and fights by diffusing the situation.
I spose I could start another by saying I think polyviscose looks f***ing awful and hangs like a saggy nappy but then I bet you'd jump in again.

OK I'll take the bait...I believe that the problem may lie in the fact that most of the kilts you refer to may not be made to measure. In order to make the product at a price one can afford you may find that some of the kilts are mass produced with mechanical pleating machines etc not the right taper or cut to fit a tummy so the back kicks out. In order for a kilt to fit properly we rely on three measurements waist, hip and length, if one is off it really does affect how a kilt will hang. If one takes the time to build a kilt to the body it will look good in almost any material. Depending on what one is willing to pay will determine in most cases how a kilt will look on a person. I have goofed a couple of times (I admit it) and the kilt didn't hang properly ( I missed on a hip measurement of a couple of milimeters) I fixed it and the kilt looks better.
The bottom line is when a suit is tailor made for you it fits better then off the rack...many of us have obligations and the cost of a tailormade kilt puts it out of reach for many thus denying freedom and comfort for a number of men and women. It's all a learning curve and generally the next kilt one gets we tend to pay a little more attention to fit thus they look better.
How's that kiltbear?
Cheers
