My go to kilt is my Navy Edzell PV semi-Traditional from USA Kilts, normally with a 'Rock' T-shirt, soccer [futball] socks, short boots, 3" belt, Wyvern sporran, and a blue or black Balmoral bonnet.

My Holyrood P/V kilt, a cotton/linen safari-styled shirt, comfortable hose with garters, Doc Marten's boots, A_Hay sporran, fore-and-aft hat.

Simple but tasteful THCD with a slight twist.

Well, I wear a kilt most of the time, and always enjoy it. But I'll say the kilt related "outfit" I get the most pleasure from is my renfaire garb, because as I put it on I know I'm going to have a great time among lots of good friends.
Order of the Dandelion, The Houston Area Kilt Society, Bald Rabble in Kilts, Kilted Texas Rabble Rousers, The Flatcap Confederation, Kilted Playtron Group.

You all look great, but I personally like the Iron Maiden t shirt/kilt combination:

I am pretty much a long sleeve shirt and neck tie kinda guy, with proper hose, garters and well polished shoes.
Might have to adjust if this heatwave continues, +80dF is scorching hot around here, been like that going on two weeks for daytime highs. What is that, about 30C? Too hot.

I would consider this pic from December in Kashiwa, Japan to be my "middle of the road" attire. Actually wore much the same today, but with lace-up brown shoes and a Stillwater black leather kilt jacket, to see *World War Z*. I can dress either up or down from here.

As an aside, I may have made a convert to the kilt today. Standing in line to get my ticket, the young man just behind me with his girlfriend told me my kilt looked "awesome", then said he'd love to wear one and that it looked like it would be so. . ."free". I told him he needn't worry about whether he had a Scottish clan affiliation (which I'll just say didn't look terribly likely in his case), and that the kilt I was wearing was in the California state official tartan (as in the pic above).
