What is your favourite kilt wearing outfit?

I regularly wear THCD (weekly, sometimes more). Here is my current rotation:

Some details have changed:
1. I no longer leave waistcoat buttons undone
2. I've settled all my sporran heights
3. I've settled on a single Windsor knot, but not tightened to the apple, etc.
4. I retired the heirloom sgian

I enjoy THCD and as I talk with family members and XMTSers, I alter certain details. An image of these kits today may appear slightly different. For example, Semprefyffe completed for me a wonderful hand-knit Balmoral, which I wear regularly - not pictured. As well, I recently began wearing a Lovat Green tweed "John Brown" jacket with a Highland Green tweed waistcoat (from Rocky) with the Stewart Silk - not pictured. But, you get the idea.

One to three times a week I'm going out for a piping gig, and I have my regular go-to kit:

blue shirt (shortsleeved)
black Argyll (ex-hire, a very nice quality one)
Isle of Skye kilt, 16oz
Edwardian goathair style sporran (with 100 year old cantle)
claret or Ancient Blue hose
interchangeable shooting sock garters
ghillies
plain black Glengarry or Balmoral

I have other kilts, other jackets, other sporrans, but I usually grab that same kit, which, however, I don't have a photo of, exactly.

Here it is with a waistcoat instead of jacket. I rarely wear a waistcoat, actually.

I would say the three photos below (which folks are probably getting tired of seeing, by now), best exhibit my bias.

I prefer my 8yd heavyweight traditional wool kilts (though I have some HoS 8yd PVs that I wear in similar fashion, when pubbing.) The shirt varies between a short sleeve cotton button-up, and a polo or golf shirt. When the weather turns chilly, I love my aran sweater. The hose are all House of Cheviot offerings, and the flashes or garters are usually the brightest element of the outfit (pure coincidence that these three photos all have gold/yellow.) My favorite hats are my fawn Balmoral, and the tweed Flat Cap, shown in the pics. I finish with a comfortable leather shoe with a somewhat aggressive sole for outdoor wear (consider the types of footing I'm standing on, and you'll know why.)

This would be my favorite but one I don't get a chance to wear that often. I just don't get to events that I need to wear a coat and tie. So the second picture is what would be a typical day that I might wear the kilt. More on the casual side. In the heat of the summer the kilt hose gets pushed down and I use the boots as in the third picture. Surprisingly those boots work out even in the heat.

This is one of my personal favorites. It is the result of an experimental mixing of historical and traditional pieces. I normally wear the great kilt a bit longer with more of the bulk to the back which results in a flatter front, but it was put on while standing. Note that there is no sporran whereas I use the folds of the kilt as pockets.
