Spent yesterday kilted all day. I try to at least twice a month, but it had been over a month. Here was my day:
Went to the ABC store. They are not use to seeing me kilted. No problems as I bough my bottle of Jamesons Irish whiskey. Stopped by the dry cleaners, (who clean my kilts) and discussed the upcoming Seven Nation concert. Went to the Hal-mark store with the wifw. The clerk started to ask me " Do you play the ..." I quickly answered, "Yes, I do play the trombone" Everybody had a laugh and we discussed the upcoming concert.
Next went to the "Mexican Mini Mart" to buy some hard to find spices. No one in there spoke english, much less new what a kilt was. No hassles at all.
Went shopping with the wife for new running shorts at the local sporting goods store. One again no problems and had a great conversation in the check out line which turned into a big "show and tell" of tattoos.
Lunch at one of our favorite breweries. They are used to seeing me kilted and don't even take notice anymore. Then went grocery shopping where I ran into my boss. I wirk for the government but have managed to wear a kilt to wotk three times in the last year. (St. Patricks Day x 2 and Agency Picnic) He still doesn't get it but trys to be cool.
Dropped some letters to our tattoo artist. THe folks there think it's cool.
Stopped for a drink for friends before heading home at our local restraunt. Once again, they are use to seeing me kilted and did not turn a head.
When I first starting wearing kilts, it caused a big commotion. Now it only gets a simple question or no reaction at all. It is not like everyone is wearing them around hear, only at festivals.
It looks like it is more and more exceptable these days. Consiering I'm 40, it is cool with the teenagers and I have ederlly woman ask about it.
