Looks to be a fine piece of workmanship there. Congratulations on the outcome. Look forward to seeing it action. Well done, cheers

At Tandy Leather. Same with the straps. I found a nice scrap of rich brown leather and cut the straps from that. The buckles are the same 1 inch buckles I used on my other kilts, but found them in brass. Tandy is about the best place I have in San Diego for buckles etc.

LOL I was just in that store recently, bagged a nice remnant from the scrap box. Sometimes all that's left in there are shards, but they must have gotten a new shipment.

Beware of Tandy Leather if you can not get into the store, they have jacked their shipping rates up dramatically. I bought some Brass Screw Key Posts to replace on a kilt, a year or so ago and they were a couple of bucks and mailed from the nearest store in just a regular envelope US Mail. Flash forward to a couple months ago and I needed a set in chrome and they had jacked the product price up and wanted $6.00 for shipping. Remember they just stick them in a plastic bag and put them in the mail. I looked on E-Bay and got them shipped and everything for less than Tandy's cost of the product. Make matters worse when I called the store, they ship from the store nearest you, they really go their back up.

Looks great! Pleating to the white stripe was really the right choice.

An overdue update on the new box pleat. Finished it on Friday, but had a concert this weekend with the chorus I sing with...I know a dress rehearsal and 3 performances are a lame excuse for not getting up a couple of pics, so here you go.

In praise of the box pleat: It really is very comfortable so for those looking for a little lighter kilt, this is the way to go, AND with only 9 pleats to sew, it goes a lot faster than 30 knife pleats!

Really happy with the results, even if I did have to hem darn the thing!

    cheers,
    Gwynn
