Many more of our members may be interested to know that when the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia was carved off to be its own entity, the first Grand Master was a chap by the name of Alexander Keith. Yup, one and the same as the brewery owner!

You are close, Alexander Keith was the third Grand Master of Masons (1869-1874) but he was instrumental in the formation the Grand Lodge in 1866. He was Provincial Grand Master for both the Grand Lodge of England and the Grand Lodge of Scotland and assisted in forming the GLNS. Before his beer label was recently changed there was a couple of Masonic references on it. Still good beer. We rededicated his monument this spring at the cemetery and a few of us were in full Masonic Regalia in our kilts, looks sharp..
