For my bias-cut tartan waistcoat, I chose a lightweight (10 oz) Locharron fabric, to limit overheating. Together with it's satin lining, it worked out great at what I would estimate is an overall 13oz/yd weight. Looks great, and comfortable for extended periods like a full work day.
