My one year anniversary!
It was a year ago I got my 1st kilt, and joined the fun here on XMarks. The kilt was an $89 special (with sporran!) I picked up at the local games. I immediately went into the men's room and changed.
A year later, by hook & crook, I have a PV kilt from Rocky and the good folks at USA Kilts, as well as a bespoke tweed vest from them. VMac transformed a Harris Tweed jacket I found in a Goodwill store for 10 bucks into a stylish kilt jacket. I have 3 sporrans now, none very fancy, but the last one, an inexpensive Rob Roy, sure does the trick for holding all my "stuff." I have 4 pair of kilt hose now, including some cream ones I picked up at the local games last weekend. And a pair of black wingtips I bought just to wear with the kilt. I have a number of spread collar shirts I wear to work and a tattersall one I picked up off ebay that I only wear with the kilt. I make my own kilt and sporran belts.
I would love to get a black argyle jacket and/or a PC, but am not sure when or if I can do that. I'd like to get an 8 yard kilt in ancient Campbell, and maybe a casual in Wallace, but am not sure when or if I can do that either. I'll be retiring in a few years, and would like more of a variety of kilts for that time, but I am also being savvy about money. I haven't had a raise at my job in 4 years, and don't expect one soon. Given the rate of inflation, even as low as it is, essentially I just keep losing money!
I do very much appreciate all the help I have got, and the camaraderie here at XMarks. You guys are the best! Thanks.
Frank
