Yeah....thats why I prefer to save the braided ones for more formal jackets and doublets only....IF I chose to have them on my jacket at all. But I normally don't wear balmorals....I prefer the Tam's over...they seem to me more (US Army) Beret in style and feel. Plus there is also the lack of tassles in the wind. And yes, Steve you are correct....Epaulettes have long been where one afixes their shoulder boards of rank as well as cords to. Example the US Army Infantry Blue cord affixes to the button on the epaulette.
