    Hi Stan,

My wife and I stayed at the Super8 in Boone and commuted to Linville each day (and night). However, if you're into camping (and don't mind primitive conditions), I've heard that's the best way to get the "full experience".

Stan, there are two main camping areas - a family camping area which include MacVillage where I stayed and then across the road the MacRowdie camping area. Both are a lot of fun, but MacRowdie tends to be louder and crazier.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to coming next year, and so if I chose to camp, I guess I have a fair amount of time to collect my needed gear, and perfect my camping etequite..LOL....

Actually, I live on a ranch in Oklahoma, and when I bought my land it was "primitive" (no roads water or power) . For the first several years of habitation, I lived with wood heat, kerosene lamps, and no "developed" roads or running water while I built my house, because the contractors wouldn't ever show up. So I guess in reallity I'm a pretty good (survivor) camper...LOL....

MacVillage, and MacRowdie? Interesting names for camping areas...LOL....LOL...

I'm guessing that while one probably simulates a "village" I'm suspect that the other side (MacRowdey) is the highland version of Burning man?....LOL....They all sound fun. I'm guessing I wouldn't need a passport for either?....LOL...LOL...
