The chap in the foreground is my friend and cousin, Bruce Macpherson of London and I actually took the photo as well. It was taken at our annual Clan Macpherson Gathering and Rally in Badenoch (spot on, Jock!). Bruce is wearing a kilt in the Chattan tartan in a modern colour scheme. The kilt is actually quite old and was passed down to him by his father Sandy (see a photo of Sandy and I below).
The chap in the background is John Macpherson of Montrose and he is wearing the Dress Macpherson tartan in the modern colour scheme and with double lines in magenta, as opposed to double lines in scarlet, which is another (older) variant of this particular tartan. I much prefer the latter, as that is what many of the old Macpherson Chiefs wore during the late 19th-century, to include "Old Cluny."
