I agree on going with neutral colours. Trying to get all colour-coordinated with the tartan is a lot of work, and can come off as being overly fussy. Were it me, I'd go with something like an olive green (olive drab) sweater over a tattersal shirt. Or any other muted colour like grey. Necktie optional - you don't really want to go over the top with it. You may end up shedding the sweater as the day progresses, so you'll want to make sure that your outfit still works without the sweater.
Are you playing in the tourney, or just a spectator?
