Yes I see you're making progress.
It's hard to tell from the angle that the photo is shot, the fell looks short unless the kilt is low slung on the hip. On sunny hot days try not to have the sun shinning on your backside as the rivets when hot might cause some discomfort on your backside. ;)
    Congratulations on your project.

That is really starting to look great. All the advice about top tension is right on, especially when working with a thick fabric like denim. It drove me nuts when making my first X-kilt and I started adding the belt loops and pocket flaps. The stitching looked terrible until I realized I had to adjust the tension and foot pressure significantly to compensate for the 5-6 layers I was sewing through. From that point on I've always done test runs with the number of layers I'll be tackling before turning the machine loose on my projects.

Can't wait to see the finished product.

Love the look. My first Kingussie was a sage green denim, using the white selvedge line for the hem as you have done. But I never tackled that much contrast-color topstitching!

Increasing the foot pressure made a good difference. Still, making topstitching through the waistband doesn't give me a nice bottom stitch. But I can live with that, given that my poor, little Huskystar has to go through 5 to 7 layers of thick denim. I'm pleasantly surprised it managed to get through it at all.

    Next: pockets.
