    Cufflinks?

I've been a bit of a lurker here at XMTS and have found the answer to all of my questions in old posts, so in advance, I'd like to thank you all for the help and information.

However, I'm planning to wear my new family kilt for a New Year's Eve function - it's Lamont tartan which is mostly blue and green - no red. I sought to use red details as an accent and bought red flashes to wear in my grey knit hose, then a white linen pocket square with a red border (I thought solid red would be too "matchy-matchy" but now it looks like I have a "HELLO, My Name Is:" sticker in my breast pocket, but that's a topic for another post on pocket squares, I guess.)

I was going to add red knot cuff links and wear a french cuffed shirt, and I thought about cuff links and realized I've never read about them on this site.

Do we wear french cuffs and cufflinks with our kilts?

    Well, I certainly do.

As for pocket squares, I iron mine flat, pick it up by the middle, tuck that middle into the bottom of the pocket - job done!

Either button cuffs, or cuffs requiring cuff links are appropriate with Highland evening attire, although cuff links are to be preferred as they impart a more finished look to your ensemble.

My shirts fall into two categories: button down collars and button cuffs and spread collars with cuff links closing the cuffs. Generally the button down shirts are worn during office hours and the spread collar shirts, with cuff links, are worn in the evening, or to more formal day-time functions. All of my formal shirts require cuff links.

Most certainly I do as well. I actually enjoy wearing cuff links...it is also a great touch of individual flare.

Your pocket square should coordinate with your tie.

Cufflinks can be worn. Its up to you.

    Welcome Hugh!

If it's a formal do then cufflinks are certainty the way to go with French or barrel cuffs. However, I would avoid the knot type for formal wear. These generally come free with quality shirts. I would go for silver.
