    Bren,

If you would look at the last photo. The one with both Justin and Jackson. Justin is wearing a KKSC in a Brown Tweed and Jackson is wearing a standard Argyle in Black Barathea.

    To tell them apart -
The Cuff is the most noticeable differecet. On the KKSC the cuff is a 3 button open cuff of the type you would find on a good suit coat. The Argyle has the Argyle gauntlet cuff with buttons.

The front is straighter and has a three button closure.

There are not epaulettes on the KKSC
And the pocket flaps do not have the scalloping and buttons you find on the Argyle.
We also made the pocket flaps work either in or out.
The KKSC in this picture has imitation horn buttons but we offer five different button options.

Both jackets use essentially the same 5 button vest. Made in either matching fabric or a contrasting fabric.

The Kilt Kut Suit Coat is a great option if your not going for that traditional highland wear look or don't want to look "cookie cutter " like everyone else.

    I wear the kilt because:
    Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

Steve , the Kilt Kut Suit Coat is very classy and tasteful !

It reminds me of my grandfather's and great-grandfather's kilt jackets . They wore a simple tweed kilt jacket , no epaulettes , plain pockets , one button on the sleeve and one button very high up on the jacket just below the lapel .

Even though there are button differences , your jacket is very reminiscent of what my folks wore all the time .

I love and appreciate the style !!!

    Cheers , Mike

These were taken as we walked leisurely away from the camera and while we certainly have swagger there was no forced gait to produce swish, just regular old fashioned "Dang we look good" striding.
    You clearly "field-tested" the garments.

LOL, we keep a pretty decent sized compendium of kilt pics in various albums so when we are talking to clients who are new to the kilt we can show that there are many ways to wear the kilt and that we've for the most part sported them all.

Would these jackets be appropriate for our much warmer Southern California climes?

I would love a kilt jacket but I rarely have a day cool enough to merit wearing (read purchasing) one. For reference when I wear my suit I usually end up taking the jacket off whilst indoors.

Very smashing jackets. I like that they are a garment for the twenty first century but are firmly rooted in THCD.

Actually Bren I designed these jackets to be a complete break from what some of our members call THCD.

The only thing similar is that they are cut shorter in the body to end at the hips so you don't hide the pleats and there is a modest cut away in the front for the sporran. Otherwise they are a pretty regular man's suit coat.
No one was offering anything similar to this when I started this project over five years ago. All the jackets that were available showed a strong military influance. So I went in the opposite direction.

I now notice that quite a few larger companies are offering a similar style jacket as a break from the more traditional styles. I think I started a trend away from the cookie cutter quasi military look that is so prevalent in THCD.

As an owner of one of these beauties, I can attest to their quality. Jackson, looking good. I really like the brown/black combination.

While the intent of this thread was to show off solid colored kilts successfully dressed up since this thread began I have been receiving quite a few emails asking about our Kilt Kut Suit Coats.

We are in the very final stages of a major website re-design. We hope to have it up and on-line in Feb. Our accessory section is finally going live.

We will have a jacket section and the KKSC will be featured.

But until the site is live I thought I should give you some details about these jackets.

The Kilt Kut Suit Coat is available as an off-the-rack jacket made in Charcoal Gray Tweed either in our shop or via email.

If you would like another color we currently have 36 different tweeds.

In addition to the old standby Loval Blue and Green, here are just four of the grays.

And a couple of the browns

And a couple of window pane Tweeds.

As these jackets are essentially all custom we can offer quite a few options but at an off-the-rack price.
You can choose your fabric, buttons, how many buttons on the cuff. Also how many pockets in the vest, if the vest has lapels or not etc. Even if you want a vest of a contrasting color.

If you can fit a standard size such as 44 Reg the price is $386.50cdn for jacket and vest.
If a standard size does not fit you we will need a full set of measurements. (email me and I'll send the measuring guide.) The price for a Made-to-measure jacket is $486.50cdn.
