Phil, it looks like it is out of customs and arrived in San Francisco this morning.

Seumas, thanks for looking into this for me. It is much appreciated. I know John will also be very relieved to hear it. To all who responded to my post, thanks for the encouraging words. Pics will definitely follow as soon as it arrives at my house.
When I checked the tracking site earlier it still said Chicago but I just checked it again now and it says San Francisco at 5:23 AM. Hopefully I will get it tomorrow or Saturday.

IT IS HERE. After taking what seemed like an eternity to get from Kitchener to San Francisco, it arrived at the house at 1:01 this afternoon. According to the tracking page it arrived in San Francisco at 5:32 this morning. I figured it would take a day to get to my area post office and then be delivered the next day. But no, it spent only 7 1/2 hours in the hands of the San Francisco Post Offices before arriving at my house. Of course, as you would imagine, today is the one day of the week when I volunteer all day and so I didn't actually get to open the box until 4:45 this afternoon. Box and kilt both were in excellent condition. Pics tomorrow after I have the stitches out of the pleats

Cool! So can I ask you a couple questions...?
a) What is the best procedure to follow if you've been tracking a package online, and it has been "stuck" at a location for over a month?
b) At that point, is there ever any hope of finding that package again?
(Sigh... Yes, I do ask for selfish reasons)...
Sorry... /threadjack (but it might be helpful to others to know what to do in such situations)

I really don't think I can answer your questions. All my attempts at trying to find my package while it was "stuck" in Chicago were for naught. I tried my local post office and was told "it is probably the weather". I tried calling 1-800 ask usps and after being on hold for 50 minutes was told "it's probably in customs and they can take a very long time before releasing packages"
I guess the thing to do is go to the local post office and see if a supervisor can assist. The counter people, at least here, were no help. I wouldn't give up though. See above what the telephone person told me. Also I think the sender can initiate a trace on the package whereas the recipient cannot. Sorry I can't be of more help

The proof is in the pudding as they say. 2 pics of my new Nova Scotia kilt from Keltoi. I hope to have some "action" shots later in the day to post.

So very pleased. It's beautiful, as we might have expected.

A fine looking kilt in the New Scotland tartan. Very smart indeed.

yes, thanks Nathan. It has a very special meaning for me. My maternal grandparents both emigrated to Massachusetts from Nova Scotia, my Grandfather from Greens Brook and my Grandmother from Scot's Bay. My Grandmother is the only grandparent I ever knew and it is in her memory that I got this tartan.
