    Interesting exchange

Wore my McPherson kilt to the Desert Botanical Garden to view the Chihuly glass exhibit last Saturday. As an interesting side note, they had one area cordoned off for a wedding. And from the wedding area came the strains of pipe music. I also had several people ask if I was from the wedding. You couldn't see into the wedding pavilion, though, and I saw no one else kilted.

However, the most interesting exchange came from a late teens/early twenties couple, guy and girl. I noticed him smirking at my kilt. I did my best to ignore the boy. Then he nudges his girl and says"Look at the guy in the skirt." She gives him a resounding whack in the back of the head and says "He's Scottish. He can probably kick your a**. Besides, I like kilts."

I didn't hear his response, as I was accelerating out of the area before I lost it.

Good think I wasn't drinking anything when I read her response. Excellent!

Sounds like the girl had the sense of it. Maybe you could have said 'howdy' to her while maneuvering him out of the way. Yes, the lassies like the kilts.

I doubt my wife would have liked me saying "howdy" to her.

    The women usually do.

That's exactly what my wife says,.....after watching women on the street taking a second look at the pleats as they pass.

Within 10 min. of my kilt appearing in public for the very first time, I was complimented by a lady at a quick stop for drinks and gas while on the way to a family gathering. She was also of Scottish descent and even asked my clan affiliation. How nice! One of my brothers was less than complimentary, but what does he know?

His response was sobbing like a little baby because:

    1) he just realised that his girlfriend hits harder than he does and
    2) he had no one to snuggle up next to on a Saturday night after she realised that he is an ignorant fool.

This last Thanks giving I went "kilted" to a nice upscale place for lunch with some friends. It was about 45 minuets from town, and so we all 4 rode together to the event. As we arrived and were walking up to the front door, the gent who just had just received his car from the valet, yelled out "so what's your clan" ( I was in my red and black MacGregor kilt with red and black diced hose) and as I stated that I was a MacGregor. He replied with "clan Gunn here"...and I said..."So where's you kilt?"... He shrugged, and smiled, and we all just laughed

When we went inside the establishment... I was greeted by the hostess with an.."I love your kilt", and this accolade was fallowed only minuets later when a tall (good looking, age inappropriate....to young) blond lady cruised by (without her boy friend) and did a "drive by", "I love that kilt" comment too...LOL...

Well, needless to say, my 3 friends were impressed with the "power of the kilt", and we all had a great time.
