Kilted at Church for the first time

Very interesting postings on this subject and particularly the comments from OC Richard and Doc Canary about not making himself stand out and I would like to add the following - I have been a preacher for about 49 years now and except when on holiday in my home in Scotland I have not preached in my kilt as I did not have a suit with me.
My reasoning fits with .OC Richard's as for me I try to avoid drawing attention to myself and lift up the Name and work of Christ on the Cross thus being true to my faith in Him who loved me and gave himself for me.

Is this thread crossing over to the group " Kilted Christians " now

We're getting into a discussion of religion which is not permitted here, so maybe we need to return to your regular program being broadcast at this time.

I would think being a kilted member of the congregation as opposed to being a kilted celebrant probablly would be very different situations. Would they be able discern you are kilted under all the robes and vestments?
It all boils down to if the situation is personally correct for you and your religious practices and beliefs. I support you in your decision no matter which side you fall on.
I feel people are not paying as much attention to us as we think ( or would like) them to do so.
By the way, the minister complimented me on my kilt as he greeted members at the door post services.
    Be well and happy,
    Doc Canary

Well, since the difference would be a matter of theology more than anything, we're still discussing religion. My first comment was supposed to be light-hearted, this isn't quite that way any longer.

Fellows, I'm on the verge of shutting down this discussion, and if anybody else flags it it's done immediately.

Although I have also been complimented by the ministers both male and female, I believe the issue of people not paying as much attention is probably the case wherever you are, at least that is what I tell myself. I wear my kilt because I find it comfortable and practical, certainly not to attract attention. However I was brought up to believe that you should dress respectably for church and I'm sure a kilt fits that description better than jeans and tee shirt, which I've also seen worn. However, I suspect that in this day and age of declining congregations, attendance is more important to a minister than appearance.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I started the thread and am requesting it be shut down.
The intent was not to start or propagate a conversation?discussion on religion, but to express and share a joyful experience I had.
    Be well and happy,
