If you live in Cambridge, you ain't gonna drive anywhere in town if you can cycle, because it's faster and much cheaper (some parts of town aren't even reachable by private car -- only by busses and taxis).
So, biking is standard urban transport here.
Tucking hems under one's bottom seems to be the way to go in windy weather. Pushing the sporran to the side makes sense (in the worse case, taking it off and wearing it across one's chest is an alternative).
