Without a doubt, this is by far the most important advice that was ever given to me or that I've given to anyone else. As you gain experience wearing a kilt in public, you will be confronted with comments along the way... both good and bad. You can build your kilt confidence by being prepared to respond well to both scenarios. This website is just about the best resouce I can think of to help you prepare yourself and gain that confidence.

    Cheers,
    blu

    entitlement...

    Bill,

Congrats on your debut...sounds like it went well.

The next time someone asks you if you are "entitled" to wear the kilt, you can respond:

    "Yes. Are you?"

Turn it right back on them -- 9 times out of 10 it will catch them off guard -- and do take her up on the St. Andrew's Society dinner -- you'll get to meet fellow kilties and kindred spirits, which will also increase your confidence.

    Cheers,

    T.

ps: what denomination is church, if I may ask?

    Todd:

Thanks for the retort advice, although I'm not sure she meant her question in a condesending way. I believe it was a poor choice of phrasing. When I'm sure of the tone I will be useing your reply with relish.

My wife and I are Presbyterian with a history with the Southern Baptist denomination. Our local Church is the oldest church in Jamestown and the first to have a regular Sunday School program.

    Be Well
