As someone which has never been to GMHG, would Friday be a good day to make a day trip of it? Would love to be able to stay the entire weekend, but budget won't allow it this year. I live little more than an hour away, so driving up and taking the shuttle up the mountain is no hassle at all.

Friday would definitely be a less crowded day. I have a 4-day pass that includes shuttle service if you want it. PM me with your mailing address.

Here in the Highlands of Upper East Tennessee, nigh unto Grandfather, we've had mighty fine weather this weekend - mostly 70's, edging into 80's, and clear blue skies. Hopes for next weekend!

Personally I'll take rain over hot and high humidity any day. I have training for work all next week in WV. and will be coming in from that direction via Abingdon. Which spoils our tradition of eating at Freibergs in Johnson City on the way up...Rlloyd, do you frequent that gem of a German restaurant?

Just found my Dandelion for the Saturday Xmarkers pic. Hopefully it won't be a solo shot.

I, too, would much rather some rain over the humidity. The past month or so has been rather miserable at times; this weekend has been, mostly, a very welcome respite.

Freiberg's is very much a favorite of mine; on top of the amazing food, their weekday lunch specials cannot be beat - the best price to portion ratio in the area, and would be even if the food were only half as good. I frequently recommend it to friends.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, my fiancee will be there both Friday and Saturday and will make sure to be around for the X-Marks meetup!

Allen and Bo and all of you other single malt lovers out there...I did find a quaich! Just scored an eBay buy of a sweet little walnut cup that we can use in the Graham tent to toast your clan at Grandfather. Come by and say XMTS sent you looking for the Graham's "stationary quaich" - as opposed to the traveling one that started all of this. Slainte!
