They aren't for me but I can appreciate the skill that it takes to make them. I only wear traditional kilts but if they make others happy then I have no qualms with that.

My first initial reaction was "ewwww". But after recovering from the shock (and a small hangover after last nights shenanigans) I must admit that while I personally would not buy one, I can see why someone might want to. I do agree with what someone else on this thread said (that it looks better on the lady), but I shall reserve final judgement for when/if I ever see one in "real life" (you know. real life. that wonderful place on the other side of the computer screen once you unplug from the matrix! lol)

Some of those are very cool!
I like the Union Jack one... doesn't take sides for one thing.
Which reminds me, at the last World Cup (South Africa) some eejit American reporter was interviewing people in the England supporters' campsite and she kept referring to the English side as "the Britain team" and as "British". The supporters were too polite, or too drunk, to correct her.
I did see, in the current World Cup, some England supporters with Union Jacks, which surprised me.
About that Mexican flag kilt there, well, here there are plenty of Mexican-Americans who play in pipe bands so seeing a kilted "Mexican" isn't unusual. Haven't seen anybody wear a kilt like that though.
There was a Japanese-American guy wearing what he called "The Kilt Of The Rising Sun", basically a white kilt with a big red circle on the front.

I'm not so sure that the English supporters were too polite or drunk to correct her......well certainly not too polite!
They more than likely couldn't care less.....viewing England and Britain as interchangeable.
As for England supporters flying the Union Flag, it's certainly not the first time that has happened!
Likely a case of ignorance, arrogance or a bit of both.

We Brits are an arrogant bunch... esp. the English  Take the example of tennis : When Andy Murray won Wimbledon last year, he was referred to in the news as a 'British' player, but I'm sure any news of him crashing out of Wimbledon this year (in straight sets, sadly) he was referred to as 'Scottish'... so the descriptions are interchangeable within the UK.
Sadly patriotism and the English flag has been hijacked by far-Right groups, so it may only be certain types of people who'd dare wear a kilt like this one
No, I never ordered one, I'll wear something a bit more appropriate if I go to the Highland Festival next week £300 for that seems a bit steep... quite a few watchers, which is surprising...

Don't worry, it's not just American reporters that get it wrong, it's also official British organizations! For example, did you see the UK team at the last Olympics - in London yet - referred to as "Team GB"? Wrong, it included competitors from Northern Ireland, so should have been "Team UK". See the UK passport - "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". If we can't get it right, we can't really complain when others don't!

This reminds me of when I was piping at a local High School and after I was done I was talking to some of the kids. A couple of the kids were looking at the various embroidered badges (patches) on my soft pipe case (recording my various travels) and somehow they got onto the topic of the meaning of Britain v The UK. I was surprised when one boy explained matter-of-factly to the other boy that "the UK includes Northern Ireland and Britain doesn't".
I'm used to kids around here saying ignorant stuff like "my ancestors came from Scotch-Ireland".
