We're very excited to be attending Grandfather this year for so many reasons. Being on the board of directors for the Celtic society in my area, when there's an event happening here - I'm more running around like the proverbial headless chicken and less just relaxing and enjoying myself. I'm also looking forward to meeting some of my fellow Xmarkers! Planning to print out the Clan tent listing and highlight all those which I want to be sure to stop by. As a member of Clan Douglas, I also hope to make some new friends there.

I cannot wait to go myself, I have been looking forward to this since missing the Lake Norman one. I am not sure which day(s) I will be up there, but I will be there kilted and ready to have a blast.

We're wanting to make it in time for the opening ceremony on Friday morning; does anyone have a suggestion as to what time we should arrive at the shuttle pickup at Avery County High School?

You may be able to catch the shuttle at the intersection where you turn to Avery County HS and Grandfather Mountain without having to go all the way to the HS. The HS is for the overflow. They have a big parking area at that intersection. One side is for the campers, one side for visitors.

Here is the GMHG website link to parking information: http://www.gmhg.org/parking.htm. As stated, you can try to park at MacRae Meadows until it fills up on Friday. On Saturday, no parking at MacRae Meadows except for patrons. Here is the map link: http://www.gmhg.org/mapdirections.htm. Notice above and to the left of Linville is a P in a square. That is the parking area I mentioned in the previous post. Enjoy!

I'll be there Saturday and will look for you all. I'm wearing my red Wallace kilt.

This week I've been staying at Lees MacRae College for a Gaelic Language and Song week.
Cristine Primrose is teaching Gaelic singing. Lovely! She taught us to sing Gillie Calum and I jumped up and danced the sword dance to it.

In the evening my friend Caroline and I have been doing some Scottish Country dancing with the Thistle School next door. It's a lot of fun!

Bonnie, looking forward to meeting you Saturday. Several Greensboro Scottish Country Dancers are attending Thistle School this week. My wife (carolinanan117) and I are hosting the Clan Sinclair tent. Do stop by for a visit.
