If I was staying for the games local I most certainly would stay in side the Stone mountain park at one of there hotels , because there is so much to do there after the games are done at night that it would make it worth it -Lazer show and much more.
and the hotel is in walking distance (closer then the camp grounds ) .
other wise -check out Trip Advisor -fot the hotels in the stone Mt area -with customer reviews.

This hotel here is right beside the games - @mattie has stayed there before , he may can give some in sight on it for you .
I have waned to sstay here ,and may one day but I live less then an hour from the games.
But I was going to pick , I would pick ,this one

If you're going to stay outside the park, but near the park, the neighborhoods east or north of the park are far nicer than those west or south of the park. Also Hwy 78 is one of those roads that changes names every few miles between Atlanta and Athens, so the locals just call it "78".

I and my wife are planning On attending the games. It will be my first games in 40+ years and my first Kilted, I am new to it all.

We have reservations at the Marriott near the host hotel but I am now wondering if I shouldn't try and locate one closer to the park.

I am looking forward to the meet-up at 1:00PM Saturday and I will try to make Conyers on Friday.

Does anyone know if the House of Gordon will have a tent?

I notice the House of Boyd which should delight my wife.

Thanks @Thomas H for the links and the info. Would love to be able to make the pre-game, but we will be at the balloon festival in Statesville NC Friday as part of the 'Mighty Nach Army'.
