I don't mean to be argumentative, Chaplain, but the Scots and American Episcopal churches do Kirkin as well. Here in the states it usually falls on a Sunday between 14NOV (the consecration of Samuel Seabury and bestowal of the American Episcopate in 1784) and 30NOV (St Andrew's Day), but never takes precedence over the 1st Sunday of Advent. You can find more about Seabury and the debt American Anglicans owe our Scots brethren here There's a number of us in the Anglican tradition who are quite vocal about our Scots roots. Indeed, the Society of King Charles the Martyr celebrates the Stuart king who died rather than abolish the historic episcopacy as a saint and exemplar in the faith.
