Good point! I always keep my clothes away from any sources of moisture, and I haven't noticed any problems. Nonetheless, I will give the pillow case a try. Thanks for the tip!

I have been using two cheapie hangers so far. The rubber ends fall off and the springs go bust. I want more reliable hangers. Maybe I'll try IKEA.

While not in the UK, these are really good, IF you are going to spend money anyway. Steve's frugal and practical suggestion is great, but if you want something more long-lasting...and from a forum advertiser.

I'll try to post a couple of photos in an hour or so, of the different hangers I purchased from them, in use Jonathan.....

Ok Jonathan and others interested, here's two photos of two different types of hangers that I've acquired at IKEA that work with the fold over method of hanging kilts....

I especially like the ones that are the flat bar pinch method on the left photo....

Thank you very much, hawk and Steve for taking all the trouble to reply with pictures. That's kind of you.

Those kilts of Hawk's look cotton. I've got 8 yard, 13 oz wool and they are heavy and bulky. And I love them and want to look after them. I suspect the flat bar pinch would not be wide enough to get three layers of wool kilt.

I think I'll try having two of these per kilt from dear old John Lewis. (Americans won't know John Lewis which has a reputation for being very reliable but not very sexy. The staff are unfailingly helpful. There's branches in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Their motto is "never knowingly undersold".)

PS - they are £9 for a pack of 3, which is hardly extravagant.

Look closely, that is two I used with the fold over method on the pinch ones and I use the same set up with the wool/heavier ones I have. It works great Jonathan....
