Kilted rambling in Strathclyde
Hi, is there any members interested in kilted rambling in the Glasgow, West Dumbartonshire area.
There are so many great walks like the Whangie, Kilpatrick Hills, Loch Lomondside etc and of course the best way to walk is in the kilt

Ah, just a little too far for me most of the time these days. If we have a weekend off, we generally head to the Cairngorms or the north west. Probably wrong of us to ignore the south west, so if we do head that way I'll try to remember to give you a shout.

I am. Alas, I live in Massachusetts over here in New England. Maybe summer 2015 we can take a hike together.

I live in Ayr Jimmy and would quite like a wander sometime. Loch Lomondside sounds good to me. Kilts sounds good too.

THanks for the reply, I'm on holiday in the Canaries next week for a month but we could possibly get together for walks either in Ayrshire or near me if the weather is not too bad this winter.
I'm sure that there may be a few more members in the west of Scotland that may be interested

Unfortunately, its a wee bit far to travel for a day out hiking.
There are as you say lots of excellent walks within easy reach of Glasgow. Before I moved to the Borders in 1989 I was active in the Glasgow branch of Country Holiday Fellowship. I went on many memorable walks with them including sections of the West Highland Way, the Clyde Walkway, the Forth and Clyde Canal towpath, the Trossachs, the Cathkin Braes, the Campsie Hills etc, etc and I recall leading a walk on the Gleniffer Braes on a snowy winter Saturday. The temperature warmed up after lunch and the snow melted rapidly resulting in very muddy conditions underfoot.

I've been promising a visit back to the city of my birth (Glasgow) for some time now. Not sure when I will manage it!

Thats fine Jimmy just keep in touch and we can arrange something once you get back. I have a few things on over the next month myself so it will work out fine.
