He is also correct, I'd say, in thinking that the hose worn by those guys is, indeed, kilt hose. I'm afraid, although I have several pairs, I find that soccer/football socks are too thin to provide the 'weighty' visual balance required when kilt wearing, and so I normally wear kilt hose pulled up for 'formal', pushed down for 'casual' and rolled down for 'smart casual'!
