Kilted Friday for some errands. Got four positive comments and one pinhead who smirked every time he got near me.

At my recent wedding i had a so called friend question me why I was wearing a kilt as I wasn't scottish enough. Apparently my scottish born father doesn't count as he left Scotland when he was 6 (my Grandad was a regular soldier in the Cameronians (scottish Rifles) and so moved with his regiment). I put it down to jealousy or the vast amount of alcohol ahw has consumed !

Stoke,
Congratulations on your recent wedding. I hope your "so called friend" did not put a damper on an otherwise wonderful day for you and your bride.

I do get a lot of lady's coming over and saying how nice the kilt looks and often can they stroke my sporran. My son hates me wearing my kilt every time we go out. I tell him hear that people love them and when your older and fit birds start coming over to you because you stand out from the other bloke and look more special they do you'll love the kilt. I guarantee when your older you'll be in one .
But he;s like I don't think so . and always reminds me of a little girl who was 5 come over and asked me why am I wearing a skirt am I a girl. LOL I explained it was a kilt . she had never heard of one I told here to get the film Brave and every one in the film has them.

I suppose the lassie would get the idea about kilts if she watched Braveheart, but it’s a very bad example of historical kilt use. Brave is a much better example, though.
Just been looking at your picture on page 1 of this thread, Norbo: is that your standard nasty look? (Just kidding, but if every kilt wearer I saw had that facial expression, I would get worried!)

Stokegers, my congratulations also on your nuptials. When I got married I did have a kilt (regimental property), but I was too nervous to wear it.
And if they had been fussy about who they let into the regiment (“Are ye Scots enough?”) I might not have qualified. I am eternally grateful that I was let in.
Regards,
Mike

Time to get those lassies into tartan, too. But not for digging sand on the beach, of course.

LOL its funny you should say that I do have a small Vintage kilt to small for me I have removed the buckles and am going to put Velcro on it so the eldest can use it . It will be down to her ankles and be a full length on her but its a proper mans kilt made to fit . she is quight looking forward to going out in it .
