Warning ! This was a really discusting sight.
This will be shocking for all of the true Hilt purists, but I just had to tell it. I was at the Richmond Highland games and Celtic festival yesterday. I had left my wife sitting at a table while I went back outside to get my camera, which I had, in my haste to get inside the gate, left behind. As I approached the gate, to get a re-enter stamp, there it was, a sight so ghastly as to turn my stomach. There was a young lady coming in the gate. She was wearing a Sportkilt (blackwatch tartan) and under the kilt, she was wearing black peddlepusher pants with pink trim. Like I said, it made me nauseous. What an insult to the fine brave lads of "The Black Watch!". It's probably a good thing I didn't have my camera yet, because I might have even subjected you fine gentlemen to the same sight, and I do not know if you would have ever forgiven me. The description by itself is horrible enough.
"A day spent in the fields and woods, or on the water should not count as a day off our allotted number upon this earth."

Such a thing is a nightmare with any tartan, but to do that with a Regimental tartan! The HORROR!!!!

I can't believe that she wore pink trim! If I remember correctly, peddlepushers are pants that end just below the knees.
Even I know better! The weather is turning colder in Maine, and it was suggested that I wear tights with my kilt last night. I said "No way! You don't wear your kilt that way."
I think I have truly crossed over to the kilt side.

Do you think she cares?! She wouldn't know Blackwatch from cherry bubble gum. This just confirms the fact that most women just wear what they want. They just do it and don't think about it as anything but fashion. Regardless, the description is enough to make one wince.

I don't know about where you all live, but around here, there are a lot of girls who wear skirts or dresses over pants.
I've never seen it done with a kilt, but I have seen it with pleated skirts and tartan dresses, and I liked them both.
This has been going on for at least a year.

just kids being kids.
I have seen the pants under kilts a few times.
most people probably think WE look strange wearing kilts.
each to their own I say, it's the person inside that counts.
wait till you see me in a leather "r-kilt"
and unionjack boots

Man when are people going to stop wearing crappy 80's fashion?

This would seem to negate the advantages of an unbifurcated garment. A silly fad. This will pass.
