I'll be the first one to stick up for the 5 yard heavyweight WOOl kilt. Just put mine back on the hanger and was thinking how much I like it. It's 16 oz HOE tartan and it certainly doesn't have the number of pleats as either of my 8 yard heavyweights but it is pretty nice and comfortable. I've worn it out drinking and worn it with the Argyll jacket for a couple of evening events…looks okay either way. Thus, if you must get something in the 5 yard class, I'd recommend that you hold out, save up a few more $'s and pop for one in 16 ounce wool…more versatility.
