Waistcoat only?

Just me, In 90 degree (F) weather I wouldn't wear a vest, or a tie, or a dress shirt, for daywear.

I, like Steve, was taught that the satin back and adjuster belt were not to be seen, but the times they are a changin'. I have a tan canvas waistcoat with a decorative satin back and a stylized adjuster belt with brass hardware. It was intentional made to be worn without a jacket. And I recently ran across some very nice wool waistcoats with "coordinating corduroy back with adjustable belt detail", also made to be worn without jacket.

And patterned braces, worn visible, are a bit of a trend. I have a very nice set of braided leather braces, but I still wear them under a waistcoat or jacket.

It seems challenging to get away from the satin-backed style, but even moreso, almost all the ones I can find with a full fabric back still seem to have the adjustment strap.
At least, in those cases, it looks less like "something meant to be covered by a jacket".

I suppose you could try a (I hate to say it) Jacobite waistcoat.

Then alter it to suit your preferences.

Try a lightweight cotton vest that does not fit like a glove.
I'm in Az and we have the games coming up in Prescott (5k foot el.) but it will still be hot in May.
One must adapt.
I'll wear a 5 yard kilt during the day but a loose, blousy white shirt (LS) but rolled up. When we dine (eve) I have a nice lightweight vest that steps it up one notch.

I have a waistcoat I have worn for quite some time. It's wool all around. Instead of having a buckle in the back, it has two buckles on the side that are hidden when your hands are by your side. It seems a touch longer than most waistcoats.

Unfortunately, I bought this in 1987 or 1988 and it was the last one the store had even back then. It has seen years of pub sessions, work days and many other events. I found another similar, but is not as dressy. I've always kept my eyes open for waistcoats that fit the "all around" description, since I have always liked them.

I apologize for the quality of the photo of me, my waistcoat and my Jackrat dog, Elvis. You can see the buckle on the side. My side, not Elvis's side. There is an identical buckle on the other side.

Let me know if you would like me to photograph the details of the waistcoats if you want to copy them.

Well, what the heck. After playing with Elvis, I decided to take pictures of the thing. If you can find a tailor who can make more of these, let me know.

Unique to say the least, I've 2 that have the same material on the back in a light canvas material/and a light wool with a central adjuster. They are from Western clothing suppliers.
Do none of the suppliers advertising here make a vest in like manner?
