I used to ride a honda reflex scooter. until some idiot hit it while parked in a grocery store lot, was running an errand for the wife. now I ride a sym hd 200 evo. sorry didn't take pictures of the bikes. the only way my wife lets me ride is if I wear all the gear all the time so no kilts on bikes for me.

"sym hd 200 evo" = Very nice ride. I miss the (150cc) scooter I traded in when I got my rebel. Love the Rebel but miss the carrying capacity of the scoot. I'm toying with the idea of getting another if I sell my V-Star (which I don't ride nearly as often as the Rebel). I would move up to a 200 like yours so I could better keep with the flow of traffic in my neck of the woods.
"...the only way my wife lets me ride is if I wear all the gear all the time so no kilts on bikes for me." Smart woman! To ride with less than ample protective gear is not only irresponsible, but selfish. (Let the flames begin. )
If you are too busy to laugh, you are too busy.

No flames from me Couper. I always wear the gear. My wife worries enough as it is.

Last bike I had, a long time ago, was the old 750 water-cooled Suzuki. Someone stole it from me! Nice bike, but I'm not sure I need a big road bike anymore. I have been toying with the idea of getting a small dual-purpose bike, so I can ride it off road and still use it to get from A to B on occasion.
I have a short inside leg. I'm 5'8", but also have a long body and short legs for my height. My old Suzuki allegedly had a 31" inch seat height, but that was with the stock seat, which had been replaced long before I bought the bike. Ironically, if I was looking at, say, Harleys, I could comfortably place both feet flat on the ground on one of those, but trail bikes, even small ones, seem to be much higher, especially the monoshock ones.
The Yamaha TW200 looks like something I might be interested in. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have nothing against more power or more weight, as I am used to dealing with a 70 bhp road bike that weighed over 500 lb, but I don't want anything that is way up in the air, or anything that is too big to really be genuinely suited to off-road use, and whatever I get it will probably never travel more than 30 miles away.

Here in Victoria we actually have a scooter club (SC). What makes it extra-funny when you really stop to think about it -- is they're a three-piece patch club. (No word on whether they're 1%). Lol!

we have ridden with sky island riders scooter club but even though they list over 200 members the leader only wants to ride with his "buddies". not the best idea when trying to promote something.
