    There 2 kinds of the Hazuma, traditional is 4 × 1 yards and modern 2×1 yards and both are hand woven from cotton or wool. No pleats and it wraps around the body start with the left side which goes under than the right over as the pictures show.Click image for larger version.

    The Hazuma seems like a very close analog to the early forms of the kilt... and also seems like a great garment for Summer. Too bad I don't have any ancestry from that part of the world... kilts are pretty stifling once the temperature breaks 80 Farenheit.

    You look great in both and thank you for the education. I can see why you appreciate how much more freedom you get in a kilt though and the hazuma, although a lot lighter, can't have the built in air circulation you get from the sway of a kilt.
    If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
