Welcome Boats. My wife and I took a cruise about a year and a half ago to New England and Canada. I was kilted for the entire cruise (not the same kilt), and it was great.

I was recently on a Windstar cruise and, while the did not have a designated formal night, I wore my kilt. Don't hesitate to wear appropriate kilt attire. Be prepared for compliments.

I wore mine for the formal night on our Alaska cruise last summer. I did not plan on wearing my sgian dubh, but forgot and left it in my kilt bag. They almost didn't let the bag on the ship. They only let me keep it after measuring the length of the blade.

I found this image which might be of interest. It's from a few years ago. The kilted man was the Cruise Director for the Carnival Conquest at the time. So I think you're good to go, have a great trip.

    Boats,
Welcome aboard to the X-marks forum. Also, as a former shipmate you may want to consider a kilt with the Navy Edsell tartan. Relax on your cruise and enjoy a ship where you won't have to worry about handling lines or standing watch.

No reason to limit yourself to formal nights.

Welcome from Illinois. If it helps, you may want to look at some of the cruise ship message boards, where I have seen generally favorable opinions about kilts on formal nights. Also, I will be wearing my kilt on both formal nights on the cruise we are taking later in the year.
