It's a Burda pattern that we bought on line and downloaded. You print it out on a home printer, tape the pages together and you're ready to go, or modify it to meet your needs. Pretty slick. I wish I had the patience to do this sort of stuff, but I'm more of a 20' seams and 25 stitches per second kind of guy.

Now, that is very nice. I like to see people doing quality work!!!

Closing in. She is currently installing the lining. The sleeves went in well and the gauntlet cuffs are still waiting to be hemmed, but look great. I think all the make-or-break stuff has been accomplished and the fit is good, so now the remaining steps are pretty simple. We spent a few days up north at our family's place on the lake, did some kayaking and target shooting, but took her sewing machine for the evenings since the TV seldom works up there.

We even spent one afternoon hiking a few miles on a nice trail through the woods made on an old railroad bed. She wore the blue T-6 tartan and I had the black version.

I finally got sunlight, decent temperatures, the jacket and Marite all together in the same place at the same time. There is a reason that good tweed jackets aren't cheap, as they're a lot of tedious work to make, but it came out very nice. I have a batch of our tartan being woven in a dark blue with brighter orange version which will be 13 oz. from Marton Mills. She is looking forward to having something lighter for long skirts and it will probably get a similar jacket in Cheviot CHE105, Flintstone/Petrol, which is a dark blue herringbone.

It's certainly nice to have a competent tailor in the house.... even if she does spend her days as a PhD molecular biologist.

I like the tartan sett. Soft and rustic. Different to the greens and blues I usually wear. Roderick

Roderick, The kilt is 16 oz. Dalgliesh wool in a tartan I designed and was made for me by Barb Tewksbury. I have two versions of it, a black one and a blue one, both knife-pleated to the stripe and just beautifully made. I think the biggest surprise was how they fit so well and hug your hips so evenly that you don't really notice their weight.
