Try This on For Size
I been wearing kilts now for about a year and find them awesomely comfortable besides looking really great, both tartan types as well as the utility variety. I know many people like to "go commando" whilst donning a kilt, and that is fine and dandy. For those of us who prefer to have, uh... some "modesty insurance" down there, a whole spectrum of under garments are available.
But I found one that in my opinion beats them all. Some time ago I discovered a type of Japanese undergarment called an "ecchu fundoshi". For several years, that was my underwear of choice because nothing else could come close to the comfort of said garment, hands down. However, I quit using them after a time because when you wash a load of laundry whites with 8 fundoshis in the mix, and you go to pull the laundry out of the washer, all them fundies have wrapped themselves around each other and your t-shirts and other garments, creating a hideous Gordian Knot of a mess. My wife got tired of having to disassemble these laundry nightmares every time she washed, so I decided to go back to the usual American understuff. That was a step down, putting it mildly.
I write all that to say that for those who do not go regimental, an ecchu fundoshi just might be the best thing ever to come along for kilt wearers. No elastic band to wear out, they are adjustable and lots of breathing room. (these look and function somewhat like the Native breechcloth, but stay in place better). Just my two cents worth. You can get them online, or even make them yourself (my wife made me a bunch of them out of plaid flannel). They are a bit unconventional, but then.... so are kilts. Google it. Amazon has them and some other web sites. Be sure you type in ecchu fundoshi because there are other types that are anything but comfortable.
Hope it works for someone. And NO... I am not gonna attach a photo of me wearing one.....!

Interesting...not for the faint of taint though

Perhaps the answer is the net bags used for delicate garments - a set of eight, one fundoshi in each, no more problem.

I would just look like a Western sumo wrestler. And a very bad one at that.
Cool idea thought for those who are more adventurous.

Hmmm... Ecchu Fundoshi are not the type Sumo wrestlers wear. The Ecchu type have an apron in front and are not a "thong" design. More like the Native American breechcloth, covering nearly the same as a pair of men's bikini briefs, only not so restrictive. There you go.....
