To me, lack of comment is not often a reliable indicator.
It may not be, but it's a two way street. If you have made the best effort you can, within the choices available to you, then the host should accept that in the spirit that it's offered. Obviously, if you are going to be seen in someone's wedding photos for the rest of their married life, then a little greater effort is needed.
