I'd lay money on the seller not getting anywhere near the asking price.

Yep, overpriced but the color is dynamite. Sort of a "Not So Black Watch".

£700 and then they want £8 for postage and they take no responsibility for loss in transit?

Great color , although given that the starting price is GBP 700 ( apprx $ 1,046 ) it will probably end up with no bids .

That's what weathered Black Watch should look like, not bl***y brown !!!!
I suppose the bid price reflected the age and condition, like a very rare vintage wine or something, but I can't see them getting £700.

It's interesting to see what extreme fading can do to the colours.

There was a badly faded Seaforth Highlanders kilt on Ebay a few years ago, the colours amazing. I think I saved a pic of it, I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Here it is. It must have been displayed for ages with the top half covered by a jacket or summat. Can you imagine a weaver trying to recreate this look?

What a great contrast between dark 'modern' colours through 'ancient' colours to the 'weathered' colours, and yes I stand corrected green does turn brown. I just wish that Lochcarron had kept a hint of green (like the middle section of this kilt) in their 'weathered' colour scheme.

To check what was going on with that fading I got out the colour-strip from The Setts Of The Scottish Tartans and compared it to the bottom of the faded kilt photo.

What seems to have happened is that the blue and the green remained dark, but the black faded to pale olive-brown.

Get out a colour-strip and check if you see the same thing I'm seeing.

That WWI Black Watch kilt seems to be completely different, and it makes me wonder why.

Considering his price and terms, not surprising that he got zero bids.
