At the moment I'm edging towards Goffrey kilts of Edinburgh mainly because their quality looks good and also because they habe a monthly fitting service in London which is close to where I'm based at this time. Does anyone have any views - good or bad - on this company please?.
Also what weight would you suggest ? Will be wearing the complete Evening formal ensemble.
Many thanks and king regards,

Hi Craig,
I can thoroughly recommend Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd of Edinburgh and, yes, you are correct, they do have a regular London visit - usually at weekends. They take a showroom at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel on Bayswater Road (Queensway tube station!)about every five weeks. Unfortunately, you have just missed them as Howie and John were there last weekend. Their next appearance is on 11th and 12th December, but you should call the Edinburgh office to make an appointment, as they get SO busy. (Call: 0131 557 0256). I'll be going there on the Saturday to pick up a new "21st Century Kilt" - my 16th from that family 'stable' (11 x "TFCK" and 4 x Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd). Apart from the kilts, I have had two Argyll Day Jackets and my Prince Charlie from them.
Their quality is superb, as is that of this site's sponsor: www.KiltStore.net, from whom I have had two kilts and have another on order.
As far as weight is concerned: here in the UK the best is generally 16/17 ozs for year-round wear, but it all depends upon what events/occasions (other than your wedding) you might want to be wearing it - not, OF COURSE, that you should restrict your kilt wearing to events and occasions ....... every day is what you should be aiming for! 8) 8)
Photos of all my kilts are in my Photo Album - link below.
I hope that has helped you a little.
By the way, if you are persuaded to order from abroad instead, beware the additional VAT, Import Duties and other charges that are liable to be levied at the time of import into the UK! Just a thought!
