They won awards from the US Dept of the Interior,, and made major improvements to the infrastructure of the refuge. There is now a bench, on a wild trail with a bronze plaque with the inscription "In Memory of Frank and Clara Withnell, who loved, each other, their family and this refuge." It is their only monument. Yesterday, Michele and I, our daughter Shoshana and granddaughter Yonina went to see it. I was of course kilted.

That memorial (and the service of your parents) is great Geoff! The next time I am down there (it is one of my favorite waterfowl photography sites) I will have to pay special attention to the benches!
