If you feel comfortable in it, wear it, I like to wear my Aran sweater with my kilt when it gets cool here, which is now.

I've got lots and lots of sweaters but this one is the most random of the lot. I had been wearing a shawl collared Aran-type sweater in natural with the kilt during our walk. Just tried this one on afterwards as I was curious. Herself wasn't buying into it which is why I posted the pic and the question. When my wife agrees to go out with me while I'm kilted then I'm going to wear something both she and I agree on. Thanks to everyone for all the input.

In my case, it's rare for me to be kilted when we go out together, the only times being when I'm playing the pipes at the event, or it's a Scottish-themed event, in which cases she acquiesces to the kilt as part of the bargain.

Over 29 years of marriage I've found that a happy wife, more often than not, makes for a happy husband. Very very few fights over that time and I like to keep it that way. We did have a "discussion" a few weeks ago about my going around kilted and ended up with some guidelines/scenarios that both of us can feel good about. Her biggest problem which she freely admits is being of natural red-headed Irish decent, she is very territorial of her man and doesn't take kindly to any off comments or looks from other folks when I'm in my kilt. Not that I've noticed any but she's sensitive. She's fine if I'm not the only one kilted. I look at it as an opportunity to help her work on her anger issues.
Whenever I'm looking to do something different than a t shirt or a basic sweater, I'll ask her for an opinion.

First, the sweater. I am dyslexic, and the combo gives me a headache. The sweater maybe with some solid cords but......
Second, S.W.M.B.O. I have one too, but if I acceded to ALL her desires I would either not even have a kilt or have one that I am allowed to wear only in my closet when my wife is not in the same zip code, the onliy light of day it would ever see would be that reflected from my bedroom window off the bathroom mirror. My golf clubs would be a rake and shovel and my fishing rods would be curtain rods, I would be attending home and garden shows every other weekend alternating with craft fairs and trips to Hobby Lobby and Michaels. The only kayak I would ever need would be online search engine for travel deals. Life, and marriage, is a two way street, give and take, a lively conversation of touch and go, to and fro, good and bad, happy agreement and lively disagreement, major and minor keys, harmonies and dissonance, yin and yang, sweet and sour. I never desired to marry my feminine clone. I will deal with it, and enjoy the ride.
