Smart Kids
A month or so ago when the weather here was not so cold (at 5500 feet elevation; winter is usually very kilt-unfriendly), my wife and I went on a nice walk, about 1.5 miles through the neighborhood like we usually do in warmer months. I was wearing my Black Watch utility kilt from UT Kilts, which is awesomely comfortable, even more so than their regular khaki type utility kilts. It is the only utility kilt I have with a tartan pattern and pockets. The kilt gingerly sways back and forth when I walk a lot more than the khaki variety, I was a bit concerned that it would appear maybe too much like a dress or something, but I found shortly that my fears were unfounded.
We walked by a group of girls who were maybe 10 years old or so who were talking amongst themselves. I kinda got the impression they were quietly talking about my kilt. Then one of them called to me and said, "hey, nice kilt!" I said, Cool... you know what this is." Then I asked, "do you know what country it comes from?" And without a hesitation she answered "Scotland". Wow. Smart girl. Even kids know that when a man is wearing a kilt, that it is a kilt and not a ladies' garment. Too bad some adults (like the smartypants teenagers in a pickup truck last summer) don't seem to have common sense. At any rate, that was a really cool experience. The positive experiences I have had with kilts far outweighs any negatives. I am itching for the weather to warm up so I can once again go kilting in my out and about trips, especially the highland games this March 20th in Phoenix.
By the way, even though it was cool that day, the kilt still held its own and kept me warm. Kinda like a tipi holds in the heat. I suppose in cold weather a kilt would work, provided there is no wind....

Women are far wiser than are boys/men in kilt-mojo,even most young females know a good thing when they see it, males are too hung up on approval amongst their male peers, not in the perceptions of the fairer sex, I wish I could time travel and show myself the way, dating would have been a fuller pasture!
