Prince Charlie Jacket & Vest???
In preparation for my daughters wedding this April I have a custom kilt on order, and now I'm looking for a Prince Charlie jacket and vest. Can anyone recommend a good quality provider (that wont break the bank)? Has anyone had any experience with Kilts & More and J. Higgins? As always, thanks for the expert help.

I'd look at what your kiltmaker offers - usually you can get a discount for buying a 'package' outfit. I bought my formal kilt jacket and waistcoat with my kilt from USA Kilts. But I did buy a tweed jacket and waistcoat from MacDonald Sporrans (same as Buy A Kilt which is one of our forum partners) through their amazon.com storefront. It's good quality, fits just perfectly, and was priced right. They also have a couple of Prince Charlie options for under $200 and this might be a good option for you.

Also - There are options to look as formal without going PC, which provides some flexibility when less formal than a PC in the future is desired. The black berathea silver-button argyll jacket fits the bill nicely. And, the buttons can be switched out for black for those less-formal business and other evening events. When watching the budget, it's nice to find some dress with flexibility

And be aware that as many on this board can attest, when ordering jackets from the UK the sizes often do not translate well. UK jackets tend to run small, often very small, compared to USA jackets of the same stated size.

Yes Ministry Of Tartan is an amazing place.
I like finding used high-quality Scottish-made things. My Lovat Argyll, black Argyll, and Prince Charlie were all bought for around $100 each on Ebay from sellers in Scotland. All are Scottish-made, all have fabric nicer that the jackets I see being sold at the Games and in the shops.
I'm a difficult case too, because I need a size 50. Hundreds of used jackets show up on Ebay in size 38 and size 40 for every one that shows up in 50. (I can go months without seeing a 50 show up on Ebay.)
Anyhow here's the Prince Charlie I bought on Ebay for around $100. The fabric has a wonderful soft luxurious feel to it. Too bad it didn't come with a vest/waistcoat. I'm wearing the waistcoat from my Argyll and it looks a bit odd with the PC. (However I do see Kilt Hire places in Scotland hiring that exact pairing.)

Sound advice. The jacket and waistcoat I have for dressier occasions is like a regular suit coat cut for the kilt and with brushed silver buttons. You can find such a jacket at USA Kilts and Freedom Kilts, with options on fabric and buttons at both.
